About the Prospect Heights, Illinois Area

Prospect Heights is a quaint town in Illinois just outside the Chicago area. It is a peaceful community with lush, colorful landscaping that is rich in both small town values and practices and the amenities of the big city. Prospect Heights truly is a young, charming town that is maturing due to its convenient location to the best that Chicago has to offer. It is close to interstate highways, commuter trains, business and shopping centers, and is near Chicago’s best entertainment and professional amenities.

With plans to start a community in what is now Prospect Heights, developers Carlton Smith and Allen Dawson built their first homes on farmland on Elmhurst Road. The first family settled in the following year. In the end of 1936, there were six homes and a decision to call their community Prospect Heights, to establish their values of a responsible community to raise their children with pride. In 1938, the Prospect Heights Improvement Association (PHIA) was formed and served as government for 38 years until Prospect Heights was incorporated on January 31, 1976. This was exactly 40 years after the first family arrived to the day!

From 1990 to 2000, the population has increased 12%, having over 17,000 residents. This includes a warm diversity growth of people of various ethnicities, age, and religious practice. Prospect Height is rich in diversity and all that it has to offer yet still maintains a united community.

Prospect Heights is conveniently located to the Chicago Executive Airport, the third largest and busiest small airports in the Chicago area.
The Prospect Heights school systems are rich in their commitment to excellence and genuine sense of caring. While District #23 is located within the community, various other schools in neighboring towns service Prospect Heights students .Prospect Heights has three elementary schools, a junior high school, and is serviced by various schools in neighboring towns. Three private elementary schools and two private high schools are also available for students. There are six preschools available to younger children.

Prospect Heights is set apart from other towns by the community groups it houses. Dollars for Scholars is locally operated and provides easier access to education and supporting current students. The Prospect Heights Garden Club maintains community gardens, tree plantings, and an overall beautification of Prospect Heights. Seniors are eligible to receive a discount taxicab through this program. There are also several houses of worship for various belief systems.

Prospect Heights Park District offers pools, swim lessons, fitness centers, a country club, a recreational center with athletic courts, saunas, camps, and programs for individuals of all ages!

Homes in Prospect Heights include condos, established and newly constructed, townhomes to million dollar homes with an ideal blend of price values and square footage. The areas are beautifully landscaped and conveniently located near amenities while preserving a quiet, residential atmosphere.

Real Estate Tips
Investment Real Estate >Investment Strategy

Real estate agents can provide you with information about how the local market has performed historically, in order to help you work out a strategy for investing in real property.

Historically, real estate has been a superb long-term investment. Many people have created fortunes on short-term investments in hot markets. Remember that the local market will be influenced by factors beyond your control, such as interest rates, economic trends, local employment opportunities, and the demand for and availability of rental housing. All of these factors are subject to change, so timing is crucial. A slow market can mean real values for buyers, but a fast market could heat up for several years, pricing timid buyers out of the market. Your real estate agent can't predict the future, but he or she can help you interpret the present.
